Hello there folks, got a couple of lagers lined up for you today. Sadly no pics at the moment since the PC is playing up a little and I don't have time to sort it out right this moment. I may come back and add pics in at a slightly later date. That said, there are two lagers today since I was in a lager mood so let's dive right into the first one, Brooklyn Lager.
BROOKLYN LAGER
Brooklyn Lager is an American Amber lager from (surprise surprise) Brooklyn Brewery in the USA. It's 5.2% ABV so you can drink a fair bit of this and not regret it too much. It has a beer advocate average score of 85.
The beer pours a nice amber/ginger ale colour with a white finger thick head that didn't want to go away too soon. The smell I get from it consists of sweet malts and hops, and a light citrus to my nose, quite nice indeed.
The taste itself is extremely pleasant, goes down exceptionally smoothly, tasting malty with a light dry bitterness on the back end. I'd say medium carbonation and a slightly thicker than water mouth feel. This beer has much more flavour and subtlety to it than most lagers I've had in my life, and I'd highly recommend you give it a try.

PISTONHEAD KUSTOM LAGER
Pistonhead Kustom Lager comes from Sweden, brewed by Spendrups Bryggeri AB and is an American style Pale Lager. It weighs in at 4.9% ABV so lighter in alcohol than the Brooklyn. It has a beer advocate score of 76, also less than the Brooklyn.
On the pour, this beer is a darkish yellow, very much like a pilsner but I'd say a shade or two darker. It came with around a finger thick head of white foam which subsided pretty fast, leaving some nice lacing. Smell wise, I get a sweet maltiness with a little corn in there perhaps. Not a huge amount on the nose to be honest.
Tasting this was a little surprising, the sweetness is right there in the first mouthful, and I didn't find it all that pleasant at first. There's also a slight malty tone to the flavour and finish, it's not as dry as the Brooklyn. On repeated sips I don't find the slight sweetness to be all that unpleasant but I have to say it does mar the drink slightly in my opinion. That said, it's not a lager I'd steer you away from, but I'm likely to steer you towards other things that are better than this if you ask me.
In conclusion, definitely pick up some of the Brooklyn Lager if you want a drinkable "everyday" lager, it comes highly recommended from me. I'd shy away from the Pistonhead unless you want to try it or just want the very nice bottle for a collection of some sort.
As always, leave any comments in the box below, don't forget you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook and I'll be back next week with more food and/or drinks. Until next time, happy drinking!
