Second food/drink review time and we have - another beer! This being the Brooklyn Winter Ale, which I picked up at the same time as I did the black chocolate stout I looked at last time. This beer is a much more modest 6.1% ABV so I'm hoping for a nice rounded flavour out of this.
Opening this up, I noticed this beer has a pleasant malty, honey aroma to it, with hints of something else I can't quite put my finger on. It smells good though, let's put it that way.
The pour is quite nice, the beer is a dark caramel colour with a good head of a very light brown creamy coloured foam. This quickly dissipated leaving very little lacing on the side of the glass.
Now for the most important part of any beer - the taste! For me, this one has a decent amount of carbonation, not too much, but not totally flat, the sweet tang from the honey aroma is subtly there in the flavour but gives way to a slightly metallic aftertaste which doesn't ruin it for me but just watch out for that, it's subtle, but it's there.
For me, the Brooklyn Winter Ale is deserving of it's 82 rating on Beer Advocate. It's a very nice brew which I can see myself drinking again, more casually than the black chocolate stout, which is made to be savoured. One thumbs up from me! Try this one if you get the chance, it's well worth it.
Again, if you have any comments or suggestions about this article, if you just want to tell me what your favourite beers are, or if you want to recommend me something to eat/drink for this blog, then leave it below and I'll have a read. Thanks once again for reading!
